This subject is one of the most painful to me. Father’s Day was yesterday and I celebrated my husband who is a really good father. I am so glad God gave him to me and my children. He is one of the most tremendous blessings in my life, I have to say.
On the other hand, my dad wasn’t so terrific, and I had to battle as an adult deep feelings of rejection. It skewed my thinking and I had such a fear of rejection that I had a hard time loving people who deserved to be loved by me. It affected every part of my life.
I also made very bad decisions because my absent father wasn’t around to protect and watch over me. These decisions may fallow me all my life.
It wasn’t until I found that I was loved and accepted completely by a father that would never leave me, that I,myself, began to really love. I learned to love with compassion and without conditions. This father was there with me from my conception to this very day. He is my Heavenly Father.
If I could say anything to father’s today it would be love your kids, stay around and protect them. You are their only refuge and strong man who keeps the predators away from your daughters. You are the only hero your sons will ever want to be like. What kind of dad you are will determine your children’s future.
A few statistics I looked up:
Kids who grow up without their fathers are tow to three times more likely to drop out of high school.
fail to gain long-term employment
The suicide rate among these kids is higher
They also have more children out of wedlock.
It seems to me the best thing a Father can do is be present and love the mother of their children. Keeping a marriage together takes work, but doesn’t your kids deserve it. Think of it as the best gift you could give them.
With all that said, I hope that someday America can say our divorce rate are coming down. I hope that Kids are healthier emotionally, because more dad’s decided that no one could be a better Father to their kids then them. When that happens this world will be a better place.
Lastly, I want to say, if you grew up without a father, or are growing up without a father, I want you to know that you are loved. God loves you. He wants to be your Father if you will let him into your life. You don’t have to wonder any longer what you did that made your father reject you. Father God created you from the begining, and longs to show you His everlasting love to you personally. Please let Him in.
