I think anger is a debilitating disease. It ruins people’s lives. It changes who God made them to be.It leads to dysfunctional relationships in all area’s. It builds up wall that put boundaries on love. The Physical effects can be devastating:

  • Headache
  • Digestion problems, such as abdominal pain
  • Insomnia
  • Increased anxiety
  • Depression
  • High blood pressure
  • Skin problems, such as eczema
  • Heart attack
  • Stroke.

The emotional wake is even worse. It controls every part of a person’s life. Although, the studies have not been done I am sure the effects of anger would out weigh the effects of any other disease on earth.

With all that said, why would you ever want to carry that around with you? Why not carry a battle-axe around with you instead? It would get the same attention when you walked in a room. You would have a symbol to show everyone that they need to stay away. It would command the respect that ” you are in control”. Who would want to hang out with someone who could hack their head off at any second? But, doesn’t anger have the same kind of effect in your life?People afraid to approach you for fear of getting their head bit off.

God has a lot to say about this. Probably because he is not an angry God, but a loving one.Doesn’t mean that he never gets angry, but that is not his “go to” emotion for people. His number one emotion is always love.He ask us to imitate him-slow to anger abounding in love-.Psalms 103:8 ,Joel 2:13. Jonah 4:

The bible says, An angry person starts fights; a hot-tempered person commits all kinds of sin. Proverbs 29:22 That is the case in point. It separates us from loved ones and relationships. It makes things hard in our work places and with schools. It cause murder in our heart.Jesus said this in Matthew 5:21

“You have heard that our ancestors were told, ‘You must not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgment.’  But I say, if you are even angry with someone,  you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone,  you are in danger of the fires of hell.

So if you are angry Jesus says this in V. 23 “So if you are presenting a sacrifice  at the altar in the Temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you, leave your sacrifice there at the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice to God.

Another words,He wants us to kill the root of anger. Ephesians 4:26″In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry,

I know that all this is easier said then done, but if you area child of God then you are completely capable of doing it. You can allow yourself to forgive, let go of the past, move forward in Christ. How ever you chose to kill the anger. I think it is time to lay down the battle-axe, and breath. God bless.
